Obituary of Bonnie Lou Guillory

Bonnie Lou Guillory died on April 18th, 2019 at home in Hillsboro at the age of 84.  She was born on July 12, 1934 to Henry (Bud) and Bernice Kinnaman in Wenatchee, Washington.   Her family later moved to the Portland, Oregon area where she spent most of her life.  She attended Jefferson High School, lettered in tennis while there, and met friends that remained friends for life.  She graduated from Jefferson in 1953.  Throughout her life, she attended almost every one of her high school reunions, and enjoyed reliving her memories.

                Bonnie met Ronald M. Guillory while still in high school and on August 23rd, 1952 they were married before Ronald left for Korea with the Marines.  They were happily married for almost 67 years.  They had 6 children.  Bonnie was a consummate homemaker - caring for her family and making her home a wonderful, comfortable place.  Ron and Bonnie later moved their family to a 62-acre farm in Scholls where Bonnie canned produce from the garden and orchard, helped raise animals for her children’s 4-H projects, belonged to the Groner Women’s Club, and even sat in the seat of the tractor to plow the fields.   They purchased two motels in Bend, Oregon and in 1974 moved to a farm in the Redmond, Oregon area, Tumalo specifically.  Bonnie helped run the motels while continuing to be a homemaker.  Three of their children graduated while they were in Redmond.  They later returned to the Hillsboro area where they still reside at the time of Bonnie’s death. 

                Ron and Bonnie enjoyed their family, dancing, especially to Glen Miller’s “In The Mood”, and going to events in Hillsboro such as the Farmer’s Market, concerts in the park, the Happy Days parade on the 4th of July, baseball games and their children’s, grandchildren’s, and great grandchildren’s sporting events. Some of their hobbies included hiking, camping in their trailer with family, spending time at their cabin on Mt. Hood and skiing,  trips to the beach, and traveling and taking cruises after the children were grown.  Their destinations included parts of Asia, where they climbed the Great Wall of China, Europe, where they visited the birthplaces of Ron’s family in Italy and Poland, and South America where they sailed down the Amazon. They enjoyed visiting destinations in the United States such as Hawaii, Washington DC, New York, Palm Springs and Las Vegas.  Bonnie loved Disney.  Several rooms in her home were dedicated to Disney memorabilia and she collected the movies and music.  She took many trips to Disneyland and Disney World.  A few with Ron, but more with her children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren.  She loved everything about Disneyland and was heard to giggle on the roller coasters and get in line to meet Princesses and hug Mickey.    Bonnie enjoyed crafting such as tole painting, stamping, and scrapbooking but she really enjoyed shopping at thrift stores in her later years.  If someone in her family had a need, she would hunt for it.  Above all else, Bonnie loved her family.  She was very involved in their lives, caring for grandchildren, and even great grandchildren, sharing whatever she had with them.  She was happiest when her family stopped by to visit, or when she had a houseful during the holidays.

                Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, four of her siblings, a son in law, a baby daughter, and two grandsons.  She is survived by her husband Ron, her sister Kay Larsen, five of her children, Debra Bryant, Pam Ogle, Dana Guillory, Dale Guillory, Scott Guillory, a son in law, Kerry Bryant, a daughter in law Amy Guillory, 14 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.

The family is very appreciative of the wonderful care Bonnie received from Providence Palliative Care, Providence Hospice, and Home Instead.
