Obituary of James Barry Hoaglin

James “Barry” Hoaglin, 86, of Hillsboro, Oregon passed away Monday December 30th 2019 at his home with his family by his side. He was a beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather and was incredibly generous with his love for his family and friends. Barry was born in Huron, South Dakota on April 10, 1933 to Vern and Beatrice (Emmelius) Hoaglin. His family moved to Klamath Falls in 1939 and after a series of moves ended up in Beaverton, Oregon. He graduated from Beaverton High School in 1951 and it was there where he met the love of his life, Donna Burt. They were married in December 1952 and had 4 incredible sons. Barry attended OHSU Dental School and graduated in 1960. He continued on to become an orthodontist and started his practice in Hillsboro, Oregon where he practiced until 1990. Barry enjoyed traveling, sailing, golf, building and flying remote controlled airplanes, wood carving, oil painting landscapes, and working on, and driving old cars. His favorite was a 1932 Ford Roadster. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and loved to listen to everyone’s stories. Survivors include Barry’s wife of 67 years, Donna, his 4 sons, Randy, David, Brian and Mark, his daughters-in-law Turi, Emily, Kathy, Heather and all 6 of his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his brother, Craig Hoaglin. A time of gathering / services will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at 11:00am at Valley Memorial Park, 3929 SE Tualatin Valley Highway, Hillsboro, Oregon. There will be a private internment for family following the services.
