Obituary of Norman Dale Tack

Norman Dale Tack was born to Melvin and Belva Tack on March 14, 1935 in Smith Center, Kansas during one of the worst of the dustbowl storms. To protect Dale from the dust, his bassinet was covered with wet cheesecloth. When Dale was a young teenager, he went to live on the farm with his grandpa Tack. He loved the outdoors and his favorite memory was running along and throwing bales of hay onto a moving wagon. It was there he learned to fish and hunt. Raised in small community, he formed a lifelong friendship with his classmates which remained to this day. Dale spent two years in the army with the third infantry division and was sent to Germany with the Marne Division-a new combat force designed to fight and survive an atomic battlefield. The Marne Division is traced back in military history to the war of 1812 and referred to as the “Rock of Marne”. While in Germany, he spent time on leave exploring the sights of Denmark. After the service, he settled in Wichita, Kansas where he met and married his wife Margaret on November 20, 1961. In 1967, packed a trailer and with Margaret, Teresa, Kevin, Eric and puppy, headed to Coos Bay, Oregon. We explored all the Beautiful Oregon sites, went to Disney Land, explored California’s coast line and found ourselves intrigued with the Winchester House of Mystery and the beautiful Hearst Castle. Later Dale was introduced to the insurance industry, where he worked for over 40 years. He achieved many honors and trips some of which took us to Banff and Victoria BC. a cruise to Puerto Vallarta and on to Oaxaca where we saw a preserved Mayan ball field and village. Two more trips took us to Colorado -one of which we rafted down the Colorado River— we had 2 trips to Hawaii where we visited 4 different islands. During his career, he received many nice gifts of achievements, one he was most proud of was his ring, qualified twice for the company’s highest award to the company “president council”. His last 25 years was spent as a broker to benefit his clients. Wherever we lived- Dale was involved in community service, whether Lions, Rotary, dedicated blood donor, webelo scout leader, member of Sunset Promanader square dance club, played recreational volleyball and loved watching his grandchildren’s soccer games. He was also active in his church, serving as greeter, usher, deacon and Bible studies, work parties and loved cooking for the men’s breakfast. 2008 found him seriously injured with traumatic brain injury, from a fall at local gym, spending 3 weeks in a trauma center and the transferred to nursing home, where he spent the remaining 11 years 10 months of his life, enjoying Bible Study, beading, painting, bingo and attending parties and events. Despite physical therapy, he never mastered walking again. On 7/7/2020, he drew his last breathe on this earth and WALKED into Heaven to meet Jesus face to face and to be with his Heavenly family. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
