Obituary of Laura I. Chiburis

May 31,1961 - April 30, 2021 Laura Ileen Chiburis (Haven) of Hillsboro, Oregon and native Portlander, passed away surrounded by her loved ones in her home on April 30, 2021. Her sudden and untimely death came as quite a shock to all because she was like the energizer bunny. Laura had been battling cancer for over a decade. In August of 2019, her diagnosis changed to terminal with only 6-12 months left of life expectancy. However, Laura’s extreme stubbornness, amazing sense of humor, spitfire personality, and love for her family kept her going. Laura is survived by her charismatic father, Roger Haven and lovely mother, Thelma (Don) Misener. Her adventurous husband, Michael Chiburis, her daughter and rock, Chelsea (Oscar) Acosta, her five grandchildren, Christian AKA Lil T, Anthony AKA Tone Tone, Aviana AKA Avi Bean, Selena AKA Lil Peanut, and Gianna AKA Gigi, whom she loved more than anything in this world.... except cruises, riding horses, riding Harley’s, eating crab, traveling, meeting new people so she could tell her family “how nice they were and how they would really like them,” watching The Steve Wilcos Show, Friends, scary movies, drinking adult beverages, putting her toes in the sand, hummingbirds, eating her daughters home cooked meals, getting her nails done, jewelry, gardening, family vacation in Hawaii, and climbing as many trees as possible during her trips. Oh, and Facebook to keep the connections alive - exact order TBD. Laura is also survived by her favorite brother, Greg Haven, her loving eldest sister, Delilah (Dan) Kovac, her lifelong partner in crime and twin sister, Linda (Gator) Molasion, along with her beloved niece, Rachelle (Anthony) Payne, their two loving daughters - Chloe & Layla, humorous nephew, Darren and his thoughtful son, Jaden. From being lost in the woods and knocking on strangers doors to zip lining in the Caribbean with monkeys or that time in the Florida Everglades when she decided to leave their boat and step into the water where there happened to be alligators roaming around, Laura didn’t live vicariously through others, others lived vicariously through her. No matter what obstacle was in front of her, she found her way through it, over it, around it and on top of it. Laura taught us not to worry about the “what if’s” because tomorrow is not promised and the really good things in life are beyond the “Do Not Enter” signs. She had such a tremendous love for her family - her compassionate heart was beyond reproach. She will live on in our hearts, minds, thoughts, prayers, and laughs forever - infinity google. Laura will be missed dearly by all who knew her. She was an incredible woman with an unparalleled zest for life and heart of gold. Her infectious laugh was thankfully passed on to her daughter and her children. Well wishers are encouraged to have toast with a drink of your choice in her honor. And, remember to live life to the fullest and laugh, laugh, and then laugh some more.
