Obituary of Herschel Rolland Van Fleet

Herschel Rolland Van Fleet, 81 aka Ron or Van to family and friends passed away December 10, 2021. Rolland was born in Newberg, Oregon on May 28, 1940. Father and Mother, Herschel Linden and Myra Weber Van Fleet. The family moved from Newberg to Hillsboro in 1949, he had started his education in Newberg, continued at David Hill Elementary and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1958. Rolland married Gloria Cunningham in Hillsboro 1961 until they divorced in 1994. Rolland had a career in the US Air National Guard and Air Force of Oregon in 1962 until his retirement in 1994 as Senior Master Sargent Supervisor of Ammunition Storage Shop. He enjoyed his friends from the Air Base and their yearly get togethers in Southern Oregon. And was never without the company of his beloved dog Harper. Rolland was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Myra Van Fleet, son Michael Rolland, sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Vernon Hillecke. He is survived by daughter Cathy Van Fleet (aka) Jesse Crawford-Traveny, Granddaughter Jordan Traveny of Florida. His brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Linda Van Fleet and nieces and nephews. Rolland was laid to rest at Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro, Oregon, and a Celebration of Life gathering will be held in the Spring of 2022.
