Obituary of Tony J. Cabodi

In Honor of Tony J Cabodi Tony was born May 6, 1931 in Van Nuys (San Fernando Valley) California, son of late George and Caterina Cabodi; brother of Margaret Borgia. He graduated from San Fernando Valley High School, class of 1950. Tony joined the Army, where he fought in the Korean war in 1951. He was wounded in action and was honorably discharged, receiving a purple heart medal. He spent 13 months recovering from his injuries at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco. Tony entered the field of retail produce and worked in the field for the remainder of his working career. In 1958, Tony met Gloria Sena, a waitress at a local diner and began dating. They married in 1959 and raised 3 children; Anthony, Gina and Annette in Granada Hills, California. They resided there until they moved to Oregon in 1978. Tony enjoyed many hobbies: dirt bike riding, drag racing, classic cars, Mariners baseball, Trailblazers basketball, Football and other various sports. Additionally, he enjoyed listening to jazz music, specifically on KMHD radio station. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, George Cabodi (1981), Caterina Paruca Cabodi (2004) and his son, Anthony John Cabodi Jr. (1990). Survivors include his wife Gloria Cabodi, his sister Margaret Borgia, his daughter Gina Cabodi-Storms (Husband Guy Storms), daughter Annette Cabodi Damm (husband Brian Damm), grandson Trevor Storms (wife Cayli Storms), grandson Nick Storms, Granddaughter Jordyn Damm, grandson Dylan Damm and great-grand granddaughters Addy Storms and Ellie Storms (parents Trevor and Cayli Storms) My DAD! By Annette Cabodi Damm In celebration of my dad’s life, I want to share with you many of the things he loved. 1. My dad loved his family, my mom Gloria, my brother Anthony, my sister Gina and me. He loved his parents, his sister, Margaret and husband John, their grown kids Johnny and Andy. He loved his 4 grandchildren, Trevor, Nick, Jordyn and Dylan. He loved his 2 great-daughters, Addy and Ellie. He never showed any favoritism towards any family member and expressed happiness, laughter and support. 2. He loved his friends. If you were a friend of my dad, you were a friend for life! Many of you may not realize that my dad and Chuck Alexander have been friends since high school and remained friends for the rest of his life - about 76 years. Him and Chuck even joined the Army at the same time. Some other friends of his were Darryl Orand, Bob King, Dan Dulley, Willie, Bob Eisley and so many more. He made new friends as he moved through different phases of life. 3. He even loved my friends. Roxanne was my best friend all through high school and my dad drove us all around to places like concerts, guitar practice and so on. Every time I would mention Roxanne, he would say Roxi! With a smile on his face and asking how she’s doing. 4. He loved playing games with friends, such as bunco or playing cards 5. He loved Landscaping the yard and took great pride in the beauty of it. 6. He loved to grow vegetables in the garden and was really good at it. Not surprising since he was a produce man all his working life 7. He loved watching Seinfeld..and would laugh and say “George…what a character”! 8. He loved eating sugary treats - his favorite was the Rocky Road candy bar 9. He loved Watching various sports either in person or on TV, like the Mariners, Trailblazers, Drag racing, Football, you name it. 10. He loved classic cars and even had a couple for a little while. 11. In his younger days, he loved dirt bike riding with his friend, Ray Basso, Ray’s son Johnny and us three kids.(I was pretty young and was on a mini bike) 12. He loved eating In & Out burgers and would come home from California with a new In & Out T-shirt as a souvenir. 13. Mom and dad would like to go on beach trips; many times at a hotel for weekend getaway. Their favorite beach spot was Inn at Spanish Head in Lincoln City. 14. And lastly, even though he wouldn’t admit it, he loved our cat kitty - who was a rambunctious cat we had when I was a teenager. In other words, he loved his full life…and we celebrate that and honor him for who he was! Thank you!
