Obituary of Alexandra Lee Delaney

Alexandra(Alex) Lee Delaney left this earth on 12/14/2016 after a 17 year battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Alex was born to Ashley and Mike Delaney on July 23rd 1999 in Klamath Falls Oregon. She was the 3rd child and first daughter. Her older brothers Brandon and Justin were always there for her and loved picking on her and making life difficult for their dad. Alex was always a fun-loving, positive, humorous child. She was a fan of Hello Kitty from a young age and maintained that love her whole life. Although she was in and out of hospitals her whole life she never complained about her illness (wells outside of her immediate family). In 2010 she moved to Portland, Oregon with her dad in order to be closer to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, where she spent a good part of her time. She attended Lenox Elementary, Poynter Middle School and was currently attending Liberty High School in Hillsboro. Alex packed a lot into her short life. She was very adventurous and was well liked in her school and community. Although she was sick most of her life, she never let her illness define her, she made sure she lived every moment to its fullest. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, camping, shopping, and just hanging out. She was a collector of the Life Flight Bears from the PANDA team and everything Hello Kitty. Alex was our “special unicorn” and she will be greatly missed. Alex was preceded in death by her Uncles William Walden and Russell Smeed as well as her Grandpa Barry Smeed. She is survived by her parents Mike (Portland) and Ashley (Klamath Falls) as well as her siblings Brandon, Justin and Amanda. Grandparents Judi and Roger Delaney, Niece Nikki and Nephew Brysen. Aunts and Uncles: Diane Chamberlain, Laurie and Eric Riley, Christina and David DeLoyola. Cousins: Jennifer, Heather, Steven, Phillip, Christopher, Jordan, Cole, Lexi, Alyssa, Logan, Kaitlyn and Emma. Great Aunt Dee and Great Uncle Pete. She had many great friends who were there to hold her hand during her many hospital visits and to celebrate her recovery from a lung transplant. The family would like to thank Stephanie and Tina Beck, Belle, Bella, Amanda, Maddie, Kristy, Bonnie, Cara and Crystal. Also to the nurses, RTs and Doctors at Doernbeckers a special thank you. Celebration of life services will be held at 5 PM on Saturday, January 21st, at Liberty High School in Hillsboro, Oregon Please wear purple to celebrate her life and the fight against Cystic Fibrosis.
