Obituary of Clarence Irvin Pohlman

Clarence Pohlman was born on a farm in western Iowa, the next to the youngest of nine children. He grew up near Correctionville and attended school there. He also farmed there until he moved to Ute, Iowa where worked for his brother, Howard, selling cars. He also became the Town Marshall of Ute. Here he met Donna Hull who was teaching in Ute. In 1953, he gave his life to the Lord Jesus and was baptized. He married Donna in 1954 and they moved to Oregon in 1955. Clarence worked in the saw mill at various jobs and then became the truck driver delivering the lumber to many different locations in the Portland area. He continued to work in the lumber industry for many years. Clarence and Donna were blessed to receive three lovely daughters. The whole family enjoyed spending time together at the Christian Church of Hillsboro, visiting with friends, and going to the beach. Clarence liked to build things for his children and many others to enjoy. He constructed a playhouse, teeter-totter, a giant swing with a ramp, a teepee, monkey bars, a trampoline, a tall fort with a slide, and a beautiful redwood gazebo. He retired on January 1, 1989. He and Donna had nearly ten acres on Baseline Road east of Hillsboro and he enjoyed building things and fixing up the house. They bought a motor home and travelled to Alaska twice. They also took the motor home to visit family in Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Colorado. The Oregon beach and Mt. Ranier were also favorite vacation destinations. Clarence loved to collect rocks and driftwood. He is survived by his wife, Donna, his three daughters: Kathy, Kim, and Terri, his three son-in-laws: William Nyone, Dano Ehler, and Wendell Kam. He had seven grandchildren: Joshua, Jonathan, Caleb, and Kathryn Nyone, Lauren and Maile Kam, and Dane Ehler, and a granddaughter-in-law, Darcy Nyone, and a great grandson, Julian Nyone. He has many nieces and nephews who also loved him dearly. Service Information
