Obituary of Kent Calvin Croft

Kent Calvin Croft was born September 20, 1935 in Provo, Utah. He died October 31, 2016 in Hillsboro, Oregon at the age of 81 from complications of Diabetes. Kent was the third of five children born to Jacob Calvin Croft and Lula McClellan. From the time he was a little boy Kent loved to create and make things with his hands. He was very industrious and curious. He was fascinated with technology and engineering and found ways to make purposeful items around the home. He was often found looping rugs for his car, sanding a new gun, or tinkering with his automobiles in the garage. He also enjoyed drawing, photography, flying airplanes, and sports cars. He appreciated the arts and especially listening to classical music as his wife, Bonnie, played the piano. Kent encouraged his daughters to practice and learn the arts. He spent many nights teaching his daughters fun dances he learned from the 50’s. One of Kent’s favorite pastimes was going hunting with his older brother, Mack. He loved the outdoors. Kent was an active member in the LDS church and especially enjoyed working with the youth. He served as a missionary for the LDS church in the Kentucky & Tennessee areas from 1956-58. He was often mistaken, as Elvis Presley. He married Bonnie Bramwell in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on August 25, 1959. He and Bonnie volunteered their time as workers in the Portland and San Diego temples. Kent worked in optoelectronics with Hewlett-Packard for 17 years in Palo Alto, California. He also spent many years working for several other electronic companies. Kent will be remembered as a kind, hardworking man that had a great zest for life. Kent’s latest interests were video editing and Ham Radios. He was a devoted father and especially loved his wife, Bonnie. Kent is survived by his wife Bonnie of 57 years, his three daughters: Denise Marie Shattuck (Rick), Cherie Ann Witt (Doug), Michelle Louise Clark (Tom), 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
