Obituary of Beverly Lynne Carmichael

Beverly "Bev" Lynne Claycamp Carmichael died on June 17, 2016 at the age of 70 years after a battle with cancer. Bev was born in Kansas on April 16, 1946 to Elmer and Alta Claycamp. Shortly after Bev's birth, the Claycamps moved to Hillsboro, Oregon on the urging of family, who convinced Elmer and Alta that a better quality of life was to be had in the beautiful northwest. Soon after, Bev's brother Robert was born. Bev enjoyed an all-American upbringing in Hillsboro, attending school where Elmer served as Principal, attending Hillsboro United Methodist Church, and graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1964. Shortly after graduation, Bev married David Gene Carmichael of Yakima, Washington. Bev gave birth to their first daughter, Trina, in 1970, and their second daughter, Tonya, in 1973. Bev enjoyed an early career in banking at First American and later Key Bank before joining Grant and Roth Plastics, Inc., in Hillsboro where she would remain to serve in key positions for over 20 years. Bev led the Customer Service department for many of these years, gaining the adoration of customers, co-workers and distinguishing herself through her diligent and caring approach to all facets of the business. Bev later followed her close friends Rod Roth and Janet Evensen when they formed a new Hillsboro business, R&D Plastics, where Bev worked faithfully until just shortly before her passing. Bev had an enormous work ethic, and deeply enjoyed the friendships formed over the years with her colleagues. Bev and Dave remained in Hillsboro for the duration of their 51 years of marriage, enjoying the growth of their daughters, the birth of 7 grandchildren and the love of their expanding family. Bev enjoyed softball, local high school football games, boating on Oregon's lakes and rivers, exploring the Oregon Coast, making popcorn balls at Christmas, holding her "babies and grandbabies" close during countless holiday meals and barbeques, and making the most knock-your-socks-off potato salad anyone who tasted it had ever had. Most of all, Bev was known for her infectious smile, genuine warmth, modesty, decency and charitable spirit. Those who knew her well understood that hers was the sweetest of souls. Many who would meet Bev only once would remember her for years, and a great number of the friends she made remained close during her life. Bev was preceded in death by her Father, Elmer, her mother, Alta, and her stepmother, Clara. Bev is sorely missed. She is survived by her brother, Robert Claycamp, her husband, David Carmichael, her daughters Trina Hanks and Tonya Weber, and her grandchildren DJ, Ian, Kyler, Daniel, Caitlin, Troy, and Mehgan, and her friends whom she counted as family. A celebration of Bev's life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Hillsboro United Methodist Church, 168 NE 8th Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97124.
